HALF TERM REPORT

With the present inclement weather showing no signs of abating, the Worcester & District Football League looks like it will be going into May before its full fixture list can be completed.

With approximately half the fixtures having been played, the Sunday Premier Division looks like being the closest run competition for several years. AFC Heenans currently lead the table, closely pursued by Powick, Kempsey, Perrywood and Callow End. However, with games in hand, reigning champions Arrow 2000 and Martley Spurs could well prove to be the greatest threat. At the other end of the table Droitwich Spa and Westbury Celtic Reserves currently occupy the relegation places and will be looking to climb the table as soon as possible.

CMB Sports are leading the way in Division One with The Pear Tree in their first season in hot pursuit. If they win their games in hand AFC Mazak will also be in the frame with Bridge Rangers a good outside bet to spoil the party. HDNL Sports and Droitwich RBL are struggling to get away from the division’s basement.

It’s a different story in Division 2 where Powick ‘A’ are running away with the title having won twelve of their thirteen games. Martley Spurs Reserves lead the chasing pack. Anyone of half a dozen teams could face the drop with only three points separating them.

Blue Star and Keyz04 are level on points at the top of Division 3 but Blue Star have a vastly superior goal difference. However if Goodrest Juniors win their two games in hand they will lead the table by one point. The relegation situation is even more complicated in this division with seven clubs separated by just six points.

Blackpole Sports boast the only 100% record in the League having won all their eleven matches to date. They currently lead Division 4 by twelve points from AFC Nunnery Wood Colts Reserves who have three games in hand with both clubs likely to take the promotion places.

The battle for the Saturday Division title looks like going to the wire. Martley Spurs are the current leaders but unbeaten Powick could go four points clear if they win their two games in hand. VBL Sports and the University of Worcester are also well placed for a title challenge.

The Worcester League is anxious to hear from any clubs who are looking to play Saturday football next season. Interested parties should contact either Graham Russell on W 453863 or Tim Phillips on W 749562.
